In February, The Taiwan Times went to speak to Ambassador Willy Gomez, official representative of Guatemala to Taiwan.

Willy has been in post since the summer of 2019, and as one of Central America’s most iconic nations, Guatemala is also one of Taiwan’s closest full diplomatic allies.

Ambassador Gomez proved a hugely charismatic and very interesting individual with interests ranging from his nation’s renowned coffee growing regions to football in Europe.

He did wince however, when we talked about his nation’s record at the FIFA World Cup, but was proud to tell us about one Guatemalan pro set to make his mark with Datong FC in Taiwan’s Premier League this season – that and much much more.

Listen in via your preferred platform to hear our full chat – here – Ambassador Willy Gomez.
