Zaramag hydroelectric power plant

Zaramag Hydroelectric Power Stations (Ossetian: æææ) is a hydro power complex on the Ardon River in the Alagir District of North Ossetia, consisting of two interconnected hydroelectric power stations — the Head HPS and Zaramag HPS-1. Construction of the complex began in 1976, the Head HPS was commissioned in 2009, and Zaramag HPS-1 in 2020. The project was implemented in difficult natural conditions and features a number of unique technical solutions for Russian hydro power — in particular, Zaramag HPS-1 has the highest head in Russia, the most powerful Pelton turbines, and the longest diversion tunnel. Zaramag HPS-1 is the largest power station in North Ossetia and the third most powerful hydroelectric power station in the North Caucasus. The hydroelectric power stations are owned by PJSC "RusHydro" and operated by the company's North Ossetian branch.
