Set at about 1,000 m on the slopes of Mount Mainalo, It developed as a regional trade centre during Ottoman times and later played a role in the Greek War of Independence.
Getting there
Vytina is about 2 hr by car from Athens and around 40 min from Tripoli. The drive passes through scenic mountain roads and forests. Public buses connect via Tripoli, but services are limited—having your own vehicle is the easiest way to explore the area.
