Understand

Janakkala is a fast-growing rural municipality located around 95 km north of Helsinki and around 16 km southeast of Hämeenlinna. Its two largest urban areas are Turenki, the administrative centre of the municipality, and Tervakoski.

Getting there

By train Trains from Helsinki and Hämeenlinna stop at the 1 Turenki railway station.

By bus or car The most direct connection to the centre of Janakkala from both Helsinki and Hämeenlinna is to travel along Highway 3 (E12).

1 Saint Lawrence Church (Pyhän Laurin kirkko), Hakoistentie 345 (in the old church village). The last of Tavastia's medieval stone churches. The church's builder is assumed to be Marshal Åke Tott (1598–1640), who was the master of Häme Castle at that time, although the church was originally inaugurated already in 1520.
