Sabugal (suh-boo-GAHL; /sɐ.bu.ˈgaɫ/) has a municipal population of 11,283 (2021 provisional) with about 2,000 living in the city proper.

Getting there

By train Comboios de Portugal (CP) operate Intercity and Regional trains from Lisbon, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Covilhã, and other cities.

By bus Viúva Monteiro & Irmão (VMI) operate express bus services from Lisbon, Coimbra, Guarda, Vilar Formoso, and elsewhere.

By car Sabugal can be reached via the N233 road, which can be accessed from the A23 (Autoestrada da Beira Interior) or A25 (Autoestrada das Beiras Litoral e Alta) motorways at Guarda.

Getting around

By bus Autoridade de Transportes (Transport Authority). The municipality run 17 bus routes connecting the various localities and 5 inter-municipal routes. (updated May 2022)
