1 Cirque de Gavarnie. A cirque home to numerous different features including the Roland's Breach as well as the Gavarnie Falls. The cirque is 800 m wide (on the deepest point) and about 3,000 m wide at the top with the rock walls that surround it are up to 1,500 metres (4,900 ft) above the floor of the Cirque. (updated Dec 2021) 2 Gavarnie Falls. A tiered waterfall in France and has a drop of 422 metres, making it the highest waterfall in mainland France, and the second highest in Europe. (updated Dec 2021) 3 Roland's Breach (La Brèche de Roland). A gap situated in the Franco-Spanish border, close to the steep cliffs of the Cirque de Gavarnie. Roland's Breach can be reached from the Refugio Sarradets, a nearby mountain shelter, and takes about an hour's climb. (updated Dec 2021) 4 Lac d'Orédon. a lake raised by a dam, one kilometre downstream of the lake of Cap-de-Long. (updated Dec 2021) 5 Pont d'Espagne. A stone-built bridge that spans the Gave de Marcadau at the point where it meets the Gave de Gaube. The name of the bridge translates as Spanish Bridge as the bridge used to join Spain and France through the mountains. (updated Dec 2021)
