Getting there

The town is crossed by Interstate 395, U.S. Route 44, Connecticut Route 12, Connecticut Route 21 and Connecticut Route 171.

Putnam District or "Historic Downtown" is home to many arts events and businesses. Aligning Main Street, which runs through the center of Downtown, there are seven arts-related businesses in just one block of the town.

1 Cady-Copp House, 115 Liberty Highway. An historic home added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Built about 1745 and little altered since, it is an important regional example of vernacular colonial architecture. (updated Sep 2024) 2 Putnam Town Hall, 126 Church Street. An historic building added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. One of the oldest surviving high school buildings in the state, and a distinctive local example of Gothic Revival architecture. (updated Sep 2024) 3 Putnam Railroad Station, 35 and 45-47 Main Street. An historic train station added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. Built in 1907, it is an architecturally distinctive example of Mediterranean-influenced design.
