Understand

Pertunmaa was a small rural municipality that seceded from Mäntyharju in the 1920s. It was known as a popular summer cottage municipality. The municipality has two urban areas: the town center of Pertunmaa and Kuortti. In 2025, Pertunmaa was merged back into Mäntyharju due to its financial difficulties.

Getting there

Pertunmaa centre is north of highway 5 between Heinola and Mikkeli. Coaches between Helsinki and Mikkeli stop at Kuortti, 10 km from the centre. In school days there are a few buses from Mikkeli.
