Understand
Orava is the traditional name of a region situated in northern Slovakia. In the past, a small part was also in southern Poland (Orawa). The region doesn't provide too many historical or cultural uniquities, however it's rich in tourist opportunities - especially regarding nature.

Orava Castle, on the way from Dolny Kubin to Tvrdosin Orava village museum, near Zuberec, is a reconstruction of a historical village. Leštiny wooden church is an evangelical church near Dolný Kubín that is listed as UNESCO World Heritage.
Do
Orava dam near Horna Orava is a good place for watersports. Little Fatra near Terchová has peaks like Veľký Rozsutec, or ravine Jánošíkove diery, which make this area very worth the day or two of stay. Oravská Magura near Horna Orava is a relatively small mountain range, includes Kubinska hola. Oravice is a geothermal aquapark and a small ski area near Tvrdošín.
