Moimenta da Beira (mawy-MEHN-tuh duh BAY-ruh, /mɔj.ˈmẽ.tɐ dɐ ˈbɐj.ɾɐ/) is famous for the production of wine, apple, mainly of the "bravo de esmolfe" species, and also for having been the municipality where Aquilino Ribeiro lived in various stages of his life, more precisely in the small village of Soutosa.

Bus service is available from Rede Expressos. The nearest motorway is A24 (Autoestrada do Interior Norte), which connects to town via the EN226 road.
