Understand

Keuruu is a small municipality located in central Finland, in the region known as Central Finland. It has a population of around 9,000 people and covers an area of approximately 1,350 square kilometers, making it quite rural and sparsely populated. The town is situated on the shores of Lake Keurusselkä. After Keuruu's town centre, Haapamäki is the second largest settlement. Keuruu's economy is primarily based on agriculture, forestry, and tourism. There are several large farms in the area that specialize in dairy production, while the forests provide timber for the local sawmills and paper mills. Tourism is also an important industry in Keuruu, with many visitors coming to enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding lakes and forests.

Getting there

By train Keuruu and Haapamäki have railway stations, direct connections are available from Tampere, Jyväskylä and Seinäjoki. Timetables are available from VR website.

By bus Intercity coaches from Jyväskylä and Kankaanpää.

Getting around

The town of Keuruu organizes service traffic within the city limits. The scope of the traffic includes both sparsely populated areas and the area of the center of Keuruu, which is served by the scheduled service line, Puikkari, on Mondays.
