Barreiro (buh-RRAY-roo, /ba.ˈʁɐj.ɾu/) municipality has 78,359 residents (2021 provisional), with about 63,000 living in the city proper.

Getting there

By boat Transtejo Soflusa operate ferries to Barreiro from Terreiro do Paço (Praça do Comércio) in Lisbon.

By train Comboios de Portugal (CP) provide frequent trains from Setúbal and several other cities on the peninsula.

By car Barreiro is served by the A33 motorway (CRIPS - Circular Regional Interior da Península de Setúbal). The A2 motorway (Autoestrada do Sul) skirts the southern edge of the municipality.

By bus TCB – Transportes Colectivos do Barreiro provide an extensive urban bus system.
