Wenchi is the capital of the Wenchi Municipal district.

Wenchi is approximately 30 km north of Techiman on the main Techiman-Upper East road, and about 50 km east of the Côte d'Ivoire border. Wenchi is connected by road to the towns of Techiman and Sunyani, and to Sunyani Airport.
