Steyning is a small historic market town in West Sussex, England, located at the foot of the South Downs near the River Adur. With origins in the Anglo-Saxon period, it was once an important port and religious centre before the river silted up in the Middle Ages.

Steyning lies on the A283 road, linking Shoreham-by-Sea (about 4 miles south) with the A24 and inland routes. There is no railway station in the town; the nearest stations are at Shoreham-by-Sea and Horsham, both requiring a short bus or taxi connection. Regular bus services connect Steyning with Shoreham, Worthing, and Horsham.
