Sant Feliu de Llobregat

城市概覽

Sant Feliu is located in the valley of the Llobregat River, on its left bank, and rises towards the Collserola Park. In Roman times and during part of the Middle Ages, Sant Feliu was called Ticiano, Tiano or Micano. However, the toponym Sant Feliu does not appear in written form until the year 1002, when it is recorded as Sanct[us] Feli[x], in a document deposited in the monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallès. In 1524, the parish church of Sant Llorenç was founded. On June 15, 2005, following the Vatican's decision to divide the Archbishopric of Barcelona into three dioceses, Barcelona, Terrassa and Sant Feliu, the parish church of Sant Llorenç became a cathedral, and the city became the seat of the bishopric of Sant Feliu.

Aplec de La Salut de Sant Feliu de Llobregat. The gathering is dedicated to Our Lady of Health. Every Whit Monday (Dilluns de Pascua Granada)the villagers go on a pilgrimage to the hermitage located in Collserola carrying the image of the Virgin Mary. One of the most outstanding events of the day is the one that takes place at the end of the solemn mass that is celebrated at noon: the Ball of the Soca, a ritual dance that probably originated in an archaic cult.
