Mont Ventoux

城市概覽

Mont Ventoux is a small mountain (1,912 meters high) between Massif des Baronnies and Monts du Vaucluse area. Places nearby produce excellent wine (such as the muscat of Beaumes-de-Venise). It is mostly famous for its ascension on bicycle during the famous bike race, the Tour de France, and one of the mythical places on the Tour. Many hiking trails (including GR4 and GR9) pass through or nearby. Mount Ventoux covers five towns:

1 Bédoin. 2 Malaucène. 3 Beaumont-du-Ventoux. 4 Sault. 5 Flassan.

Mont Ventoux is 30 km north-east from Carpentras, 50 km from Avignon, 20 km south-east from Vaison-la-Romaine.

Memorial of the British cyclist Tom Simpson, who died in an accident on the Tour de France in 1967, on the slopes of Mont Ventoux. 3 Source du Groseau. source of the river Groseau, fresh drinking water available all year long, picnic area.
