news conference

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has canceled his end-of-the-year traditional news conference. This is the first time in the past 10 years, says the Kremlin.

The Russian spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that he would find an opportunity to reach out to the media. There was no specific reason given for canceling the meeting. The event sends a negative impression to the Russian citizens, followed by the backlash and losses in the Ukraine war.

Mr. Peskov updated the media regarding the meeting; he said that the meeting is going to happen this year. He added to his statement that regardless, Vladimir Putin does such conferences on regular bases. The aim was to highlight that he would get into the media eventually.

Every year for the past decade, the news conference takes place at the end of the year, participating both Russian and Foreign reporters. Exports suggest that the whole meeting is a scripted performance. The questions are carefully framed to emphasize the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The conference lasted for an hour and took place in Moscow.

Vladimir Putin went on to great lengths to set himself as a down-to-earth president directly involved with Russian individuals. He carefully answers questions referring to poor villages, their development, and continuous growth in the regions.

But according to the anti-Russian experts, the question and answers seem promising in the absence of press freedom. The news conference is a choreographed performance where the authorities instruct pro-Kremlin reporters to ask scripted questions.

Although there are few unbiased reporters, they cannot ask any questions. Still, these conferences were an important source of information to understand the future goals of the leaders. Even scripted questions gave the rest of the world politicians the message and agendas set by the Kremlin leader.

The government canceled other news conferences this year, including postponing the annual marathon phone-in and reconsidering the end-of-the-year Union speech to parliament.
