A day prior to celebrations beginning to mark the 109th National Day, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a press conference Thursday to mark the premiere of the documentary “Taiwan’s Great 5th Season: New Taiwan in Science and Technology.”
The film was launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the world renowned Discovery Channel.
“New Taiwan in Science and Technology” will premiere in Asia on Sunday, October 11th at 10 p.m. on Discovery Channel, to promote the outstanding achievements of Taiwan’s agricultural science and technology sectors, and in addition to the industrial application of biomedical technology research and development around the country aimed at increasing the depth of knowledge in Asia of Taiwan and Taiwanese capabilities.
In working to promote Taiwan’s ‘soft power’ presence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working with Discovery Channel since 2011 to complete a four-season, 30-part documentary series on topics including “Into the Presidential Palace / 100 Years of Wind”, “New Life in Science and Technology / Cutting-Edge Agriculture & Human Reconstruction”, “Medical Care” and “Green Energy Technology”
In doing so, these efforts have won Asian Television Awards for Best Documentary, the Golden Bell Award for Best Non-Drama Program Director, and more, as well as winning hearts and minds, support and recognition, both at home and abroad, thereby enhancing Taiwan’s international image and promoting the international community’s understanding of the nation.
