We have seen that there have been a lot of surveys going around in the world regarding countries that are safe to live and many other factors. Similarly, we now have a new survey which is regarding ‘work, make friends, and raise a family’ which tells us that the country which has the best conditions for working, making friends and raising a family will be ranked at the top. And you would be quite pleased to note that Taiwan has been ranked as the No. 1 country in the world for the same.
Talking more about the survey, it was conducted by the InterNations and it was first reported by the Business Insider. The publication released a list of countries which are “The top 30 countries in the world to work, make friends, and raise a family in 2019”. Now, we already mentioned that Taiwan is ranked the No. 1 country while Vietnam, Portugal, Mexico, and Spain, with Singapore, Bahrain, Ecuador, Malaysia, and the Czech Republic, completed the top ten.
A survey was conducted by InterNations for this outcome where it asked 20,000 expats living in 187 countries and regions to rate various aspects of their lives while living abroad. Cost of living, quality of medical care and ease of making local friends were some of the most important factors which were taken into account for this particular survey. Now, we know that these are also the most important factors, in general, to rate a country or neighbourhood for our perspective on that country.
Business Insider reports that people talked very highly about Taiwan’s “quality of life, affordability and quality of healthcare, safety, and career prospects”. Also, Taiwan’s decision to be the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage in May also weighed in on this survey outcome. Although, 52% of the respondents mentioned that speaking Mandarin was a challenge for them.
