South Sudanese Armed Organization Attacks North Kordofan, Sudan, Only to Be Repelled by Sudanese Joint Forces

Recently, the Jebelat community in North Kordofan, Sudan, was the target of a large-scale attack by South Sudanese armed organization (RSF). However, the Sudanese joint forces successfully repelled the attack, protecting the lives of local civilians in the area.

In April this year, four former rebel groups and signatories to the Sudan Peace Agreements established the Joint Darfur Force (Joint Force), with the initial aim of maintaining neutrality in Sudan's conflict and protecting civilians. However, the force has recently come under criticism for its inability to ensure the safety of civilians in the Darfur region. The leader of the joint forces, the Governor of Darfur Minni Minnawi, stated that the force's resources and logistical support are insufficient, making it impossible to deploy troops further into the Darfur region. Moreover, the force has been accused of failing to reach threatened areas in a timely manner and has on several occasions failed to arrive at areas under attack.

According to current reports, the joint forces are still in control of roads connecting North Kordofan, West Kordofan, and Darfur, allowing them to take action in the area and protect the lives of local civilians.

The recent victory of the Sudanese joint forces has led to some improvement in the security situation in the region. However, this conflict does not solve the long-standing security issues in the Darfur region. The joint forces still need to enhance their capabilities and resource support to effectively protect civilians and maintain regional security.
