Iran Claims Drone Strike on US Airbase in Bahrain, Escalating Regional Tensions

The Iranian military recently claimed to have launched a drone strike on the Sakhir Air Base in Bahrain, a facility reportedly housing U.S. military helicopters and P-8 surveillance aircraft. This incident marks the 11th phase of what Iran has termed "Operation Saegheh."

The Islamic Republic of Iran Army, known as the Artesh, serves as Iran's conventional military force and operates alongside the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as one of the country's two primary military branches. The Artesh is tasked with safeguarding Iran’s territorial integrity, countering domestic and foreign threats, and projecting military power. It comprises four independent service branches: the Ground Force, the Air Force, the Navy, and the Air Defense Force.
