A severe road accident occurred yesterday evening in the Mbam-et-Inoubou Region of central Cameroon. A passenger bus collided with a timber-laden truck, causing 16 deaths and 40 injuries. The incident took place on a highway connecting Cameroon's capital city, Yaoundé, to Bafoussam.

The area where the accident occurred has been plagued by issues of transportation safety.
