Chain Collision on Western Cape Highway Kills 21, Injures 4 in South Africa

A major highway in the Western Cape province experienced a severe multi‑vehicle pileup early Tuesday morning. According to the Road Traffic Management Corporation, the crash killed at least 21 people and injured four others. The incident occurred on the highway linking Cape Town with coastal towns during the early‑morning rush‑hour traffic surge. Multiple cars, buses and trucks lost control and collided one after another, creating a wreckage line extending several hundred metres.

After the crash, local rescue teams rushed to the scene. Firefighters and paramedics provided initial treatment for the injured and transported bodies within two hours, and helped close the road to maintain traffic order.
