Golestan University of Medical Sciences (GOUMS) is located in Gorgan, northeastern Iran, south of the Caspian Sea. The university was first established in 1967 and consists of seven major faculties: Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, New Technologies in Medical Sciences, Paramedicine, Nursing and Midwifery, and the Center for Medical Education Studies and Development. The International Campus Branch of Golestan University of Medical Sciences began its educational activities in August 2013 and accepts Iranian and non-Iranian students. This university has 7 vice-chancellors including development and management, education, student culture, treatment, health, food and medicine, and vice-chancellor for research and technology, and 55 educational groups. This university has 22 research centers including gastroenterology and liver, infectious diseases, health management and social development, nursing research center, dentistry, clinical research development of Sayyad Shirazi Hospital, congenital anomalies, support for clinical research development of 5 Azar, stem cells, environmental health, rheumatology, cancer research, ischemic, metabolic, psychiatry, children, health of food and pharmaceutical products and supplements, cellular and molecular, neuroscience, laboratory sciences, reproductive health and counseling in midwi
