Dancing haniwa

Japan

The Haniwa Terracotta Dancers (haniwa odoru hitobito, lit. 'haniwa dancing people') are a pair of human-shaped terracotta burial figures – haniwa – one smaller than the other, in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum. Their gestures with their arms have led them to be given the epithet of 'Dancers'.
