Uni-Lions beat CTBC Brothers in CPBL finale, testing rookies for playoffs

The President Lions and the CTBC Brothers faced off today in the final regular-season game of the Chinese Professional Baseball League, which also served as a makeup game for a previously rain-pensioned matchup from the first half of the season. Since both teams had already clinched playoff berths and their regular-season rankings and standings were largely locked in, both coaching staffs opted to give young prospects and rookies who rarely start in the starting lineup a chance to gain valuable experience in this regular-season finale. Several players used this opportunity to make their career debut in the starting lineup of the top tier. Ultimately, the President Lions displayed more stable pitching and hitting performances, defeating the CTBC Brothers 7-4 to draw a perfect conclusion to their regular-season campaign.

For these two traditional powerhouse teams, while the outcome of this game no longer affected the playoff matchups or home-field advantage, its tactical significance and deployment value remained very high. For the coaching staffs, this served as the final live-game adjustment opportunity before the start of the postseason. The goal was not only to keep regular players in game shape, but more importantly, to observe the pressure-handling abilities of backup strength and rookies. Through this regular-season game, which had no bearing on playoff tickets, coaches from both teams boldly utilized multiple young players who had rarely appeared in the past, allowing them to test their skills in the high-intensity environment of the top tier in front of a full stadium of fans, conducting a comprehensive review of the team's future roster depth.

With the conclusion of this regular-season makeup game, the regular-season schedules for both the President Lions and the CTBC Brothers have officially come to an end. Next, the two teams will receive a brief period of rest and adjustment before igniting a head-to-head battle on the 9th in the Chinese Professional Baseball League Playoff Series. The format of the postseason is entirely different from the regular season, featuring higher intensity and a much lower margin for error, posing a severe test to the players' psychological resilience and the coaching staffs' in-game decision-making. The strategies employed by both teams at the end of the regular season—showcasing rookies and resting regulars—were all aimed at deploying their best lineups and fullest strength in the upcoming playoff series to compete for a ticket to the Taiwan Series.

Reviewing the head-to-head records and overall performances of the two teams this season, the President Lions and the CTBC Brothers have consistently been top-tier, fiercely competitive rivals in the league. Both sides have their own unique strengths in fan base, star rosters, and tactical styles, and their matchups always attract widespread attention from fans. Meeting once again in the playoff series is bound to spark even more intense clashes. For the President Lions, how to maintain the momentum from this regular-season victory and transform the drive of their young players into postseason energy will be an important task for the coaching staff. Meanwhile, the CTBC Brothers must quickly adjust their state, correct problems exposed in the regular-season finale, and learn their lessons to cope with high-intensity short-series showdowns.

The CPBL postseason schedule has always been the annual highlight of the season, and the clashes between the President Lions and the CTBC Brothers are full of talking points. From the cultivation of talent and final-game adjustments at the end of the regular season to the playoff series officially igniting on the 9th, fans will not only witness the exquisite skills of both teams' star players but also observe the growth and transformation of the next generation of players on the major stage. This 7-4 victory brought a close to the regular season for the President Lions, while simultaneously signaling the official opening of an even more exciting and thrilling October campaign, as both teams are fully prepared to go all out in the playoff series to contend for supreme glory.
