Taipei Badminton Star Qiu Wins Silver, Gets Notebook for Mental Stability

Taipei, Aug. 16 – The men’s doubles final of the second 2026 National Badminton Ranking Tournament was held at the Taipei City University gymnasium. Representing Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Lin Bing‑wei and Qiu Shao‑hua fell 1‑2 to their compatriots Chen Cheng‑kuan and Liu Guang‑heng, finishing as runners‑up.

Although he did not capture the title, Qiu expressed great satisfaction with his performance. In an interview he said, “Li Yang gave me a small notebook that was very helpful for adjusting my mental state.” Li Yang, a prominent Taiwanese badminton player known for his achievements on the international circuit, provided the notebook, which contains techniques and methods for maintaining psychological stability and coping with pressure. Qiu added, “The notebook helped me stay calmer and more confident on the court, which contributed significantly to my results.”

Li’s assistance extended beyond the notebook; his experience and knowledge are also highly valued by Qiu. “Li’s understanding of badminton is profound, and his experience is a real treasure for me,” Qiu said. The guidance has bolstered Qiu’s confidence and composure during competition and taught him how to manage stress and sustain mental equilibrium.

Qiu’s showing at the national ranking tournament was outstanding. He advanced to the semifinals by defeating his opponent, securing a place in the final. Although he fell short of the championship, he remained pleased, stating, “I am very satisfied to have reached the final, and Lin Bing‑wei, also representing Taiwan Cooperative Bank, performed excellently. I hope we can meet again in the final next time and contend for the title.”

The tournament results underscore Qiu’s abilities. His performance was notable both technically and mentally, confirming his status as a strong badminton player with promising future prospects. He said he will continue to work hard to achieve better results.
