Teenager fatally stabs father in Chiayi, sounding alarm on domestic violence

In Chiayi County, a man surnamed Huang stabbed his father in the left chest near the heart in the early hours of the 15th. The victim was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Upon receiving the report, police immediately went to Huang's residence to arrest him and transferred him for prosecution in accordance with the law. According to a preliminary police statement, the deceased had previously subjected Huang's mother to domestic violence, though Huang has not disclosed the motive for the attack. The case remains under further investigation.

Since Taiwan amended the Domestic Violence Prevention Act in 2017, domestic violence has been classified as a criminal offense, and a protection order system has been established to allow victims to apply to the court for temporary protection orders restricting perpetrators from approaching victims or their family members.
