A Multiple-Vehicle Accident Occurred on Provincial Highway 1 in Hsinchu

A severe traffic accident occurred in the northern direction of Provincial Highway 1 in Hsinchu in the afternoon. According to the preliminary investigation by the National Highway Police Bureau and the fire department, the accident was caused by a truck driven by a man surnamed Gao, who allegedly operated the vehicle improperly or failed to maintain a safe distance. The truck collided with a sedan traveling in the center lane, causing a massive impact that not only overturned the sedan but also collided with another sedan on the inside lane, resulting in chaotic traffic and multiple lane blockages. The rear traffic flow was also quickly backed up for several kilometers.

After the initial collision, the Gao's truck did not immediately stop but instead slid forward and crashed into the rear of a large truck in front of it. The force of the second collision was extremely powerful, causing significant damage to the truck's front end, making it almost completely destroyed. Gao was pinned inside the mangled driver's seat and was unable to move. The New Taipei City Fire Department received a report and immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a chaotic scene with debris scattered all over the road.

The fire department assessed the situation and promptly dispatched equipment to begin the rescue operation. After carefully cutting and expanding the metal of the mangled vehicle, the rescue team finally managed to extract Gao from the wreck. According to preliminary examination, Gao's legs were badly injured, and he was experiencing severe pain. Rescue personnel provided medical treatment and quickly transported him to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Fortunately, after rescue efforts, there was no immediate danger to his life.

The other drivers and passengers of the vehicles involved in the accident were also examined at the scene, and fortunately, there were no major injuries or further significant casualties reported.

The accident occurred on a section of Provincial Highway 1, which is known for having a high volume of traffic. The accident caused significant traffic congestion in the northern direction, with multiple lanes blocked. The national highway police and the traffic control center immediately dispatched patrol cars to the scene to manage traffic and direct traffic flow. They also notified towing companies to send vehicles to clear the accident scene and debris. After a thorough investigation and cleanup, the traffic congestion was eventually cleared, and the road was restored to normal.
