Illegal Left-Turn Collision Disruption Avoided on Danhai Light Rail

At around 1:00 PM today, a collision occurred between a passenger car and a Danhai Light Rail train at the intersection of Section 1, Binhai Road and Lane 306 in New Taipei City's Tamsui District. According to a preliminary police report, the driver apparently failed to notice the left-turn signal and proceeded to turn left, resulting in a collision with the operating light rail train. Following on-site rescue efforts and inspections, the accident was cleared promptly. The light rail vehicle sustained minor damage, and no injuries were reported. Both the station and the trains resumed normal operations shortly thereafter.

Since its official launch in 2023, the Danhai Light Rail has become a vital public transportation artery for Tamsui District and the northern coastal area. Police have also launched an investigation and will issue administrative penalties to the violating driver as a warning.
