Tjörnes (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈtʰjœrˌnɛːs]) is a peninsula situated at the northeast of Iceland, between the fjords of Öxarfjörður and Skjálfandi. Tjörnes is known for its particularly dense population of Rock Ptarmigan and the rich fossil record of Miocene - Pliocene age.
