Taiwanese Chef Wins International Cooking Competition, Flag Display Sparks Debate

The Global Culinary Alliance Tour Championship, a culinary competition, recently concluded in Malaysia. Taiwan's team achieved impressive results in multiple categories, with a Taiwanese athlete winning a championship title. However, when the athlete was about to display the Republic of China (ROC) flag for a victory photo on the award stage, they were stopped by event personnel. Taiwan International Association of Young Chefs Board Chairman, Cheng Kuei-Chien expressed regret over the situation, hoping that all athletes could freely celebrate their achievements on the award stage.

This incident is not the first time Taiwan's athletes have been restricted from displaying their national symbols in international competitions. From sports events to various international competitions, Taiwan often faces restrictions on names, flags, and logos, which are often linked to diplomatic pressure from China.
