Taiwan's Foreign Ministry Launches Investigation into Allegations Against Geneva Representative

Taipei has initiated an investigation into the alleged misconduct of Chou Chao-de, the Director of the Taipei Mission in Geneva. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced the launch of the investigation on Wednesday, citing serious concerns over Chou's alleged abuse of government funds, falsification of accounts, workplace bullying, and drunk driving.

MOFA spokesperson Joseph Wu previously expressed great concern over such incidents during a meeting, emphasizing that the ministry will strictly investigate and take action against those involved. The ministry stated that Chou's alleged behavior is a serious breach of the professional ethics expected of government officials and that it will leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth and meting out strict punishment to those who have violated the rules.

If evidence confirms Chou's involvement in the alleged misconduct, the ministry will take severe action in accordance with relevant laws. A special task force has been established to lead the investigation and ensure its transparency, with the findings to be made public.

The ministry has expressed its commitment to upholding the principles of fairness, justice, and integrity, and to enforcing relevant laws and regulations strictly, thereby maintaining the public's trust in MOFA.
