Taiwan Allocates 434 Billion Yuan, Invests 1 Billion in Eswatini Innovation Park.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently submitted the 110th‑year (2027) central government budget to the Legislative Yuan. The ministry’s share of the total budget amounts to NT$43.4 billion, drawing considerable attention and debate. Among the most prominent items is a NT$1 billion allocation earmarked for the establishment of a “Taiwan Industrial Innovation Park” in Eswatini, the only African country with which Taiwan maintains formal diplomatic relations.

The policy aims to actively attract Taiwanese private enterprises and Taiwanese businesspeople to invest in Eswatini, thereby strengthening Taiwan’s economic diplomacy and marking a shift from past aid that focused on technology and infrastructure to a deeper integration of industry chains and regional economic cooperation.

According to the ministry’s latest budget release, in addition to the NT$1 billion for the industrial park, the overall allocation for the next fiscal year continues to support key international cooperation and humanitarian aid. A major component is a NT$4.8 billion contribution to the International Cooperation Development Foundation (ICDF). This long‑term, stable funding underpins the ICDF’s core activities—including international aid projects, agricultural technology teams, medical missions, vocational training, and international higher‑education scholarships—allowing Taiwan to demonstrate humanitarian care and tangible contributions to many friendly countries, thereby reinforcing its visibility and role as a benevolent force
