A firefighter surnamed Wu tragically fell into the water and lost his young life while carrying out a dangerous mission to rescue tourists trapped after a rafting boat capsized in turbulent waters. This tragedy has drawn widespread public attention and mourning. In response, President Lai Ching-te promptly issued a statement through the Presidential Office, expressing his deepest condolences and sympathy to the fallen firefighter and his family.
