KMT Urges Control Yuan and Audit Office to Probe Port Budget

The renovation budget and overall planning of the Chienchen Fishing Port in Kaohsiung have recently re-emerged as a focal point in politics. Chen Yi-shin, Director of the Cultural and Communications Committee of the Kuomintang (KMT), held a press conference on the 18th to publicly call on the Control Yuan and the National Audit Office to proactively initiate an investigation. As Taiwan's largest and most historic deep-sea fishing base, the port has received a massive transformation budget of as high as NT$8.1 billion in recent years through the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program. The National Audit Office is responsible for pre-project and mid-project financial auditing as well as post-project final account checking.
