Monastery of the Holy Trinity, Meteora

Meteora Municipality, Greece · built 1362

The Monastery of the Holy Trinity, also known as Agia Triada, Ayías Triádhos, Ayia Triada (all meaning "Holy Trinity"), is a Greek Orthodox monastery in central Greece, situated in the Pineios Valley northeast of the town of Kalambaka. It is located at the top of a rocky precipice over 400 metres (1, 300 ft) high and is one of 24 monasteries which were originally built at Meteora. The Monastery of the Holy Trinity is one of the oldest existing of the Meteora monasteries. Collectively titled Meteora, in 1988 the extant six monasteries were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. A church was constructed in the monastery compound between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
