Pool of Siloam

About

The term Pool of Siloam (Bərēḵaṯ hašŠilōaḥ, Levantine, Birkat Silwān) refers to several rock-cut pools located southeast of the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. The pools were fed by the waters of the Gihon Spring, carried there by the Siloam tunnel. The Lower Pool or "Old Pool" (according to Isaiah 22:11) was historically known in Palestinian Arabic as Birket el-ḥamra "the Red Pool."
