About
Isla de Ratones (Spanish for 'island of mice') also known as Cayo Ratones or Isla Ratones, is a small island located near the Joyuda Lagoon in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. The island is a popular spot for snorkeling and swimming. Throughout its history, the island has functioned as a private island for farming and recreation, and an illegal dumpster. Today it is a nature reserve and, administratively, a unit of the Boquerón State Forest along with nearby Joyuda Lagoon.
