Emperor Palace Museum Invites Students to Create New Interpreations of Horse-Themed Artifacts

This year marks the Year of the Horse, and to celebrate this special occasion, the Palace Museum has collaborated with five cities' schools - Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Hualien, and Kaohsiung - to invite students to participate in a unique project. This project, titled "Unveiling 'Horse' Cultural Relics through AI," utilizes generative AI technology to enable students to create 2- to 5-minute creative short films or interactive stories that showcase the Palace Museum's "horse" cultural relics in a new form.

This project is noteworthy, given the significant role that "horse" cultural relics occupy in the Palace Museum's collection. From ancient horse harnesses, horse-drawn carriages to modern horse-drawn carriage heads, the Palace Museum has collected numerous cultural relics related to horses. These relics not only serve as historical witnesses but also as art and cultural treasures. However, it is only through experts' introductions that the stories and meanings behind these relics can be fully understood.

This project aims to make it easier for the general public to understand and share the stories and meanings behind these relics. By allowing students to create creative short films or interactive stories, the Palace Museum hopes to bring these relics to life in a new form and allow more people to experience their charm. The project's ultimate goal is to enable students to gain a deeper and broader understanding of cultural relics through creative means.

This project has involved numerous schools from different cities. Taipei's Taipei Municipal Jingwan High School, Taichung's Taichung Municipal Xinxing Senior High School, Tainan's Tainan Municipal Chenggong Senior High School, Hualien County's Hualien County Fuwen High School, and Kaohsiung's Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung High School have all participated in the project. The students from these schools will use generative AI technology to create their short films or stories.

The impact of this project goes beyond enabling students to gain a deeper and broader understanding of cultural relics, as it also allows more people to experience the charm of these relics. The project's success will also spark more interest and attention towards the Palace Museum's collection. Ultimately, the project's success will demonstrate the power and value of creative expression.
