Understand

Yesan-gun is a mid-sized region in the northwestern part of South Chungcheong Province where you can enjoy the beauty of all four seasons. In spring, a beautiful natural landscape unfolds, centered around the Yedangho Suspension Bridge. In autumn, during the rich harvest season, festivals are held where you can taste the famous Yesan apples. It is a great place for those seeking a quiet trip and delicious local food.

History Yesan’s history traces back to the Baekje Kingdom as Osan-hyeon. It was renamed Gosan-hyeon during the Unified Silla period. In the early Goryeo Dynasty, the name was changed to Yesan-hyeon (禮山縣), a name it has retained for over 1,100 years. The county was reorganized into its modern form in 1914 by merging the former Yesan, Daeheung, and Deoksan counties. Today, Yesan is recognized for its historical heritage, including Sudeoksa Temple, and for hosting Naepo New City, the relocated capital of Chungcheongnam-do since 2012.
