About Xianyang
Xianyang is a prefecture-level city in central Shaanxi province, situated on the Wei River a few kilometers upstream (west) from the provincial capital of Xi'an. The old Xianyang city was once the capital of the Qin dynasty and thus the first imperial capital of China. It is now integrated into the Greater Xi'an Metropolitan Area, one of the main megalopolises in northwestern China, with more than 7.17 million inhabitants. Its built-up area, consisting of 2 urban districts (Qindu and Weicheng), had 945,420 inhabitants at the 2010 census. It has a total area of 10,213 square kilometers (3,943 mi2).
Xianyang is the seat of the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, the main airport serving Xi'an and the largest airport in Northwest China, and one of the 40 busiest airports in the world.
Xianyang is one of the top 200 cities in the world by scientific research outputs, as tracked by the Nature Index. It is home to the main campus of Northwest A&F University (NWAFU), one of the world's top universities in agriculture science related fields, and a member of "Project 985" club which is an organization of 39 reputable universities in China.

As the city is in the heartland of China, it takes no more than 2 hours to fly to most major Chinese cities. ₩. A bus service operates between the airport and Xianyang West Railway Station. The bus departs from Terminal 3 and stops at Terminal 2 before heading to Xianyang West Railway Station. Buses to Xianyang West Railway Station run between 09:00 and 21:00. Getting around
The metro lines mentioned in the Get-in section may also be used to get around the city. There is, however, no direct line linking the western part of the city with the eastern part, so if you wanted to travel from Qindu District to the eastern part of Weicheng District by metro train, you would need to go into Xi’an first and change trains two times. Obviously, it would be somewhat easier in that case to catch a mainline train from Xianyang to Xi’an North Station, then get a metro train from there. Of course, public buses are also available. WeChat users can use the same mini-app to pay the bus fare that they would use in Xi’an. One bus that travellers might find useful is bus no. 1010, which runs between Feng River Forest Park Station on Metro Line 1 and Qingong Station on Metro Line 14. By taking this bus, you can travel between the western and eastern parts of the city without going through Xi’an.
