Tipón

About Tipón

Tipón on the south-eastern route from Cusco, is one of the most interesting samples of agricultural terracing and water management developed by the Incas. Still today, water is rushing though the channels and wide terraces - masterpieces of walls - are in perfect condition. Several surrounding ruins are excavated, and many many more are visible below the soil. Access with BT (boleto turístico).

Tipón travel guide

Getting there

By bus Av. De La Cultura 1320, Cusco to Urcos (Tipón - Pikillacta - Andahuaylilas). It makes sense to see Pikillacta and Tipón on the same day as they're on the same bus route. Pikillacta is further from Cusco than Tipón.

Getting around

A taxi from ruins to main road is more expensive than the opposite direction - try to agree your driver will wait for you. Walking down to the main road takes around 45min. There, you can take one of the cheap + frequent collectivos to Cusco.
