Do

Independence Day: 18 August. Shibnibas observes the Independence Day three days after the official date. This is because Shibnibas became a part of East Bengal in Pakistan during the Partition of Bengal on 15 August 1947. It was included into West Bengal in India after correcting the Radcliffe Line on 17 August. The Independence Day on 18 August was first observed in 1991 when a resident named Anjan Sukul took permission from the union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to celebrate the Independence Day three days after the official date. Many national and local organisations participate in this observation, including the Border Security Force (BSF).
