Getting there

Located 7 km off of the Friendship Hwy. Most travelers skip Shelkar and stay at the hotels near the Shelkar Junction, where the road to town meets the highway. There is no public transportation available.

Pricey food in the hotels and guesthouses.

Zhuang Yuan Sichuan Restaurant on the Highway has a 10 page English menu but is also pricey.

Qomolungma Hotel (Dingri Zhufeng Binguan), ☏ +86 892 8262775. The Everest Service Center Hotel sells the Everest Base Camp tickets which allow access to Qomolangma National Nature Reserve. Other places to stay are the Mt Everest Home Inn, Chengdu Jiudian, and the Shigar Snowland Hotel.
