About Rondonópolis
Rondonópolis (formerly known as Rio Vermelho (Red River)) is the third-largest municipality in Mato Grosso, Brazil. It is located around 215 km (134 mi) from Cuiabá, the capital of the state. The city is named for military officer and explorer Cândido Rondon.
According to the Köppen climate classification, Rondonópolis is classified as tropical savanna climate (Köppen: Aw), on summer is hot, the temperature rises to 35°C, on winter are warm, the temperature rises to 30°C.
The municipality contains the 6,422-hectare (15,870-acre) Dom Osório Stoffel State Park, created in 2002. The Vermelho River runs through the south of the municipal seat and along the north of the state park border.
According to the Brazilian census in 2022 the town had 244,911 inhabitants.
The city is growing quickly because many industries settled there and the soybean plantation is considered a "new gold rush" in the region, attracting emigrants from distant regions of Brazil...

Getting there
There are daily flights from Campinas via Azul Linhas Aéreas . If you decide to fly directly to the city, be aware that the airport is quite far away from the city itself, so be prepared to an expensive taxi ride (you can find taxi companies in the Get around section). If a long taxi ride through a busy highway is not an alternative, or you don't want to go to Campinas in the first place, you can fly to Cuiabá by the many airlines that go there and go via bus to the city. Granted you will be on a busy highway for many hours, but you will end up in the bus terminal, a place much closer to the city centre and with public transit. Due to its location in one of the busiest highways in the country, many busses stop in Rondonópolis from various places in the country. Some companies that serve the city are Útil and other companies from the Guanabara Group, Eucatur, and Viação Motta . If you choose the option of going to Cuiabá by plane, Logtrans serves both cities.
