About Pettavaithalai

Pettavaithalai (Tamil: பெட்டவாய்த்தலை) is in the Central Tamil Nadu region of India. It is located between Kulithalai and Tiruchirappalli. The town is an important pilgrimage location. It is located along the Cauvery river that connects to the Uyyakondan canal which is the major irrigation canal for the fertile lands in Trichy district. Pettavaithalai belongs to Srirangam Assembly Constituency in Tiruchirappalli District of Tamil Nadu State in India.

One of the EID parry sugar factories is located in this small town. This is one of the very few factories that has a captive power plant.

This town is also known for its "korai mat" – the mat spun using the korai grass. This is the main village industry here.
