Mount Vernon travel guide

Getting there

By train Metro-North Railroad - Harlem line, service to Mount Vernon East (New Haven line) and Mount Vernon West and Fleetwood (Harlem line) stations from New York City's Grand Central Terminal takes about 30 minutes. On-board train fares are subject to a stiff surcharge, so buy your tickets at the station or at the vending machines. Metro North is also a convenient means of getting here from Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo, and the Botanical Garden.

By car Several parkways (no trucks!) are nearby, including the Bronx River Parkway just to the west, the Hutchinson River Parkway just to the west, and the Cross-County Parkway, which provides cars (not trucks!) access to the Saw Mill River Parkway and the New York State Thruway. Interstate 95 is just south of the city.

By bus Several Westchester County Bee-Line Bus routes serve Mount Vernon, including those connecting it to the Amtrak stations at Yonkers and New Rochelle.
