Mount Cameroon travel guide

Understand

Mount Cameroon is the most active volcano in West Africa, having last spewed lava in 2012. The trail rises through farmland, then forest, and then a barren volcanic landscape once you break the tree line. Mount Cameroon is the 31st-most-prominent peak in the world, and the views from the top are spectacular.

Getting there

The closest international airport is in Douala. From there it is a 70 km (43 mi) drive along sealed roads to Buea.
