About Mandacaru
Mandacaru is a village in Northern Maranhão, on the outskirts of Lençóis Maranhenses Mostly serving as a quick stop for daytrippers from Barreirinhas, there is now a small inn in the building.

Getting there
Boat to Atins and Barreirinhas once a day, R$ 5. Negotite a fare with any boat at the pier. You can walk to Atins in about 1.5 hours.
See
1 Mandacaru Lighthouse (Preguiças Lighthouse). Climb the 163 steps of the lighthouse to get quite a view.
Eat
No real restaurants, but any of the bars should be able to serve you a cheap set dish around lunch.
Go next
Just a few hundred metres away is the village of Bar da Hora, perhaps unique on the planet in being named after a bar (now closed).
